Extreme MakeOver Is In TOWN!!!

ABC's Extreme MakeOver Home Edition is in Daybreak, Utah! Oh my goodness!! It is not very often that you get the opportunity to see Extreme Makeover in person. And since they were within a resonable driving distance, last night we decided to go take a look at the home they are building. Of coarse we were also hoping to see Ty, Michael or Paige (the three designers on this project). The excitement in the car on the way there was high. We were having fun talking about who we might see and how fun it would be.

When we got there, the inside of the home was being decorated. They were doing little finishing touches on the outside of the home and the landscaping was finished. We got to see the production manager/producer and meet one of the family's old neighbors. We did not get to see any designers. It was fun getting to be so close to what we love to watch on tv.
This morning I feel so much anxiety as I think of what that family is feeling and what they soon will feel as they get to see their new house. I am so excited for them!!! Holy Guacamole - their lives are never going to be the same. Did I tell you I am excited!

I wish I could be there when they say, "MOVE THAT BUS!!!!"

Even right now as I am typing, Emylie is saying, "move that bus!"

1st Visit to the Dentist

Emylie had her first visit with the dentist at Primary's this afternoon and she did amazing!

She has an oral aversion (doesn't like things in her mouth - other than her binky), so I wasn't sure how the appointment would go. We strolled her into the room and she got a little anxious. She loves lights, so once I told her the big thing hanging from the ceiling was a light she calmed down. The doctor came in and talked with us for a few minutes. He told us to use a rice grain size amount of toothpaste and brush her teeth twice a day. I was talking to my friend over the weekend and she told me she used to have to pin her kids down to brush their teeth. I think that is what we will have to do for a little while, but I hope she will get used to it quickly.

The dentist looked at her teeth and then brushed them. Even though she cried and wasn't a big fan, she tolerated it well and stayed her beautiful pink color.

Did you know that when we eat food it keeps our gums from growing up the tooth? I didn't realize that chewing food did that.

So since Emylie doesn't eat anything by mouth her gums are growing over her teeth and she has calcification on her teeth but not to bad. We made her an appointment for the dental operating room in August. She will have to have general anesthesia and they will clean her teeth.

To parents who might be new to a "nothing by mouth" diagnosis - ask your child's doctors and dentist how to stay on top of your child's oral care. Emylie used to like toothetes and I probably could have brushed her teeth too, but when they said nothing by mouth, I figured that meant toothettes too. I didn't think to much about it at first and then before I knew it Emylie had calicification on her teeth. When I noticed it I asked one of Emylie's doctors and they said, that is actually worse than a child eating food and not brushing their teeth. Apparently it is hard to get off, but the dentist said today the calcification kind of protects the teeth from cavities.

Update on the fever...

Emylie ran a fever through the weekend. After speaking with the doctor they informed us that two of the shots she was given could cause high fevers. We treated the fevers and as long as she had a normal temperature she was as playful as ever. :)

How quickly things can change....

Emylie is doing well. She just finished her antibiotics for her 3rd UTI in 3 months. She went to the doctor yesterday for a well check. She got 4 vaccination shots and is now up to date - - yippee! Because of her limited feeling in her legs I think she felt pressure but no pain. At least I hope so, because she didn't cry.

She had a great day and didn't have any signs that she was in pain or that anything was out of the ordinary. The nurse that was with her last night said she did better through the night than she has in weeks. 7:30 am this morning Emylie spiked a fever of 103-104 degrees. It took Tylenol and Motrin to bring the fever down. Emylie's body is sensitive to change and she can go from fine to critical in a matter of minutes.

For now she is resting and I am praying she will be okay and we will not have to make a trip to the ER.

The Cookbooks are here!

I spoke with the trucking company this morning when they told me the cookbooks were out for delivery. I was thrilled. The excitement felt like Christmas Eve as a kid!
2 pallets of boxes filled with "Little Miracles - Recipes From The Heart" Cookbooks were delivered to Dave's work. And then loaded on a trailer and brought to my parents home. Where they will wait for each of you to take them home.
